علم "اليوم السابع"، أن اللواء طارق المهدى بعد تركه لمنصب رئيس اتحاد الإذاعة والتلفزيون سيظل مستمرا فى ماسبيرو مندوبا من قبل المجلس الأعلى للقوات المسلحة للإشراف على الملف المالى والإدارى باتحاد الإذاعة والتلفزيون، وذلك كحال معظم المؤسسات والهيئات الحكومية التى شهدت حالات فساد وإهدار المال العام، حتى يتم إعادة هيكلة الاتحاد حتى يتحول إلى هيئة مستقلة تحمل اسم هيئة الإذاعة والتلفزيون المصرية.
